Updated: Sep 14, 2019
Marketing Campaigns usually have a way of making an impression on a customer. And there are several ways companies do this successfully. One of the most crucial parts to marketing campaign is the planning process. With a plan is it easier to guide the team through the process to succeed in a quality marketing campaign.
First, you will need to find the purpose and goal of the campaign. What will your company like to accomplish from it? For example, companies will make campaigns to promote a new product/service, increase brand awareness, for customer feedback, and many others. To help figure out the main goal, you can use SMART, specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely. By figuring this out, it is easier to determine the measures for your campaign.
Next is determining how you will measure your campaign, how much further til you reach your goal. And depending on what marketing effort you are making, whether it's through social media, direct mail, radio ads, or other marketing tools. Which also depends on the campaign objectives, for example if you are trying to increase brand awareness social media mentions would be effective. So for Instagram, ways to measure would be through engagement (likes and comments), tagged photos, or shares. By measuring your campaign you are essentially finding out how close you are to reaching your goal and if it is reaching and engaging your audience.
Furthermore, knowing who you are targeting can play a big factor in whether or not the campaign will succeed or not. You will need to know at what stage your campaign is targeting. Is it a new product, or are you trying to increase brand awareness? Are you trying to gather customer feedback? You should also be able to understand what captivates your audience what specific places (the internet), general interest, what gets your audience's attention, etc. When it comes down to it, whatever you do or make for you campaign, it will always come back to your audience.
So after you have found your main goal, found how you will measure, and your target audience, you now have to figure out how you are going to make the actual campaign. Who within the company you might discuss with, and who is the person with the most familiar with that platform? For example, if you were to use Instagram, you would want to talk to someone who is familiar and who knows that the Instagram audience would like to see.
Through thorough stages of setting goals, measuring success, finding customers, and figuring out how to take action, you we have a strong foundation for your campaign. Overall the planning stage determines how you will guide your team and make a successful campaign.
